Job Description

Performs development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems 

Understands and employs best practices 

Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions 

Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues 

Works under the general supervision of a technical lead or development manager 

 

Required Skills:

MS in Engineering, Physics, Materials Engineering or related field with 1-2 years’ experience or Ph.D.

Experience in software development with one or more of the following languages: C/ C++/ FORTRAN

Experience with Python

Familiarity with physics simulation, preferably solid mechanics, and atomistic simulations. 

 

Preferred Skills:

Technical knowledge and experience with:

PhD in Physics or Materials Science and Engineering

Lower Length scale non-continuum Physics including but not limited to Atomistics

Coarse Length upscaling methods and uniqueness

Finite element analysis for nonlinear continuum mechanics and meshing and material input generation from lower length scale physics

Software Testing and Workflow Development

Data structures 

Writing Python bindings 

Network programming, REST API, and/or GRPC 

Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment 

Good communication and interpersonal skills 

Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
